Launched five years ago, Special Vehicles Operations has already put out a number of models, each one aimed at delivering a sense of premium luxury. During the 2019/2020 fiscal year, retail sites helped to deliver a total of 9,500 sales.

This has all been achieved in spite of the recent Covid-19 pandemic, which has negatively affected many other car manufacturers (reports show a 44.4% decline in UK car sales).

Managing Director Michael Van Der Sande has attributed the success of Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations to the brand’s ever-growing attractive range of models: ‘Despite a challenging sales environment for the automotive industry as a whole, we’re delighted that the demand for Jaguar and Land Rover SV products continues to grow strongly, just five years after the division was first launched. We currently have our broadest-ever range of models offering enhanced performance and luxury, each with its own distinctive personality that resonates with our customers’.

The best-selling model from the range is the 575PS Range Rover Sport SVR. Meanwhile, the new 550PS Jaguar F-PACE SVR and Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic have also had a major impact on sales, despite only taking their first orders in 2019.

The growing number of SV specialist centres may have also helped with the increase in sales. Jaguar’s retailers are trained to deliver excellent customer service. The freedom of being able to offer personalisation also attracts many buyers.

In fact, Special Vehicles Operations’ SV Bespoke department has seen a 20% increase in commissions. More buyers nowadays are wanting to customise their vehicles and Jaguar Land Rover has continued to expand its options. Popular requests include tailored paint colours and finishes, interior trim design and exterior trim design.

Jaguar Special Vehicles Operations has its eye on further expansion with Michael Van Der Sande claiming that ‘there will be future saloons and sports cars’. This increased diversity should lead to added sales. The future of Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations looks bright.
