The F-Type Jaguar has long-proven to be something special, something that car enthusiasts adore and even those without any motoring knowledge can appreciate for its beautiful looks. So when Jaguar announced that a new model F-Type was about to be launched, excitement mounted, especially when it was realised that this new model was a Reims limited edition, which the XF had already been upgraded to just a year ago. If Jaguar’s flagship model was going to get the same treatment, it was sure to be something positive.
Positive it most certainly was, and is. The launch of the Reims edition F-Type Jaguar happened on 18th January 2021, a date that was chosen for a very specific reason. The third Monday in January is known as ‘Blue Monday’ and is traditionally the gloomiest day of the year. Jaguar’s idea was that by launching this very special car on this very miserable day, it would bring a bit of happiness into people’s lives. There’s no doubt it will have done just that, although, with only 150 of the Reims F-Type Jaguars available in the UK, if you want one, you’ll have to move fast.
You’ll also need to have at least £58,950, which is the starting price for a Reims edition F-Type. Considering the craftsmanship and excellent reputation that Jaguar has, and that the F-Type has, in particular, this is perhaps not such a surprising price at all, and it might even be lower than some would think, especially when we’re talking about a limited-edition vehicle.
The Reims edition F-Type takes all of the beautiful, sleek styling of its original version and adds to it, and although changes to any kind of icon can be problematic, that’s not the case with the F-Type Jaguar. In fact, the changes that are made only go to make an already well-loved and high-performance car even better. To begin with, you won’t be able to fail to notice the unique colour; French Racing Blue. This is the only car in the world that has this tint, and when you see it, you’ll fall in love with it. Add to this the impressive 20-in alloy wheels and the gorgeous panoramic glass roof, plus the fact that the Reims F-Type has the ‘black pack’ as standard which swaps out the grilles, badges, and vents on the standard coupe for gloss black ones, and you’ve got one stunning car.
Of course, the outside of the car is a crucial look to get right – and Jaguar certainly have got it right – but let’s not forget that it’s the interior where you’ll be spending most of your time when you’re using the car, and so this needs to be just as beautiful and function as the rest of the vehicle. It won’t surprise you to know that it is. The deep black upholstery combines perfectly with the dashboard, giving it a traditional look with a modern twist. As standard you’ll get heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and even a heated windscreen; if you wanted to add these extras to your original F-Type it would cost £4,160, but in the Reims they are included in the price.
Don’t worry about the performance being limited in any way; it might be a limited edition, but the F-Type Reims edition goes out all on power. The entry-level P300 has a 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which brings you a 0-62mph time of 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 155mph thanks to the 296bhp and 400Nm of torque. Go for the P450 at £71,450 and those figures change up too, meaning that you’ll have a top speed of 177mph and a 0-62mph time of 4.4 seconds all thanks to the 5.0 litre V8 that gives you 444bhp and 580Nm of torque.
